Microsoft Elevates Xbox App with Game Purchases and Expands Remote Play Across Devices

Microsoft's Xbox app is getting a major update for Android & iOS, allowing users to purchase games and Game Pass directly from their mobile devices, while also expanding Remote Play to the web and other platforms.

Game Purchases and Game Pass via Mobile Apps: Microsoft is rolling out a beta update that allows users to purchase games, add-on content, and Game Pass directly through the Xbox mobile apps on Android and iOS. The feature will eventually be broadly available.
Remote Play Expansion: Remote Play, which allows users to stream their console games to other devices, is being expanded to more platforms, including web browsers, Samsung and Amazon Fire TV devices, and Meta Quest headsets. Notably, the original Xbox and Xbox 360 games are now eligible for remote play streaming.
Remote Play Removal from Mobile Apps: The Remote Play feature will be removed from the Xbox mobile app, as it will be available on web browsers.
Additional Features:
- Streaming of purchased games via Cloud Gaming on Xbox consoles is now available.
- More games will be supported with “Stream Your Own Game.”
- A new “Free up space” option will help manage storage on Xbox consoles.
- New game hubs are being introduced to enhance the gaming experience.
