Apple Adds New Requirement for Migrating Purchases Between Accounts

  • New Tool for Purchase Migration: Apple has introduced a tool to allow users to move purchases from one Apple account to another, addressing a long-standing request from App Store customers.
  • Requirements and Limitations:
    • Neither account can be a child account created through Family Sharing.
    • Each account cannot have already been used for migrated purchases. If you undo a migration, you won’t be able to migrate again for 1 year.
    • Both accounts cannot have music library data associated with them.
    • You can’t migrate if your Apple One subscription provides iCloud storage to another account.
    • The primary account must have been used for purchases or free downloads.
    • Deleted, deactivated, locked, or disabled accounts are ineligible.
    • Accounts receiving special access through programs like VPP (Volume Purchase Program) are not eligible.
  • TestFlight Addition:
    • If your secondary Apple Account is used with TestFlight, you must stop testing all beta versions of apps before migration can occur.
  • Market-Specific Rules:
    • In South Korea and mainland China, purchases using Apple Account balance might take up to 15 days to process.
  • Family Sharing Note:
    • You can still migrate if your secondary account was previously designated for sharing purchases in Family Sharing.
