New HomePod Mini Needs Apple Intelligence in 2024

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that Apple is working on a new HomePod mini for next year, with a focus on a new wireless chip. The author argues that the HomePod needs Apple Intelligence support to improve its functionality and user experience. Currently, Siri on the HomePod gets things wrong most of the time, even when it comes to playing songs or podcasts – its main function. With the release of iOS 18.2, Apple confirmed that natural language search is coming to Apple Music, which should help Siri understand song requests better. The author also believes that a more advanced chip in future HomePod models could power AI features.
