New MacBook Air OLED timeline reveals two unfortunate drawbacks

The MacBook Air's long wait for OLED technology puts it in a rare class, with the update expected around 2028, nearly two years after it comes to the MacBook Pro.

A recent report from research firm Omdia revealed that the MacBook Air will not receive OLED technology until around 2028, nearly two years after it arrives on the MacBook Pro. Additionally, when OLED does come to the MacBook Air, it will still have a notch design, despite the MacBook Pro losing its notch in its 2026 OLED upgrade. This means that not only will the MacBook Air wait longer for OLED technology, but it will also be one of the last Apple products to receive this display tech.
