Next-Gen Powerhouse: iPhone 18 Set to Embrace 2nm Chip Technology

According to supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple’s A20 chip for the iPhone 18 series will adopt TSMC’s 2nm process technology for the first time. This is a significant upgrade from this year’s iPhone 17 models, which will use TSMC’s third-generation 3nm (N3P) process. The transition to 2nm technology promises around a 15% performance boost without increasing power consumption. TSMC reports that their trial production of 2nm chips has achieved yields well above 60-70%, indicating strong progress in manufacturing. It remains uncertain if the M6 chip family for Macs, expected in 2026, will also utilize 2nm technology.
