Nothing Phone (3a): 6 Years of Security Updates, But Just 3 OS Upgrades
Nothing Phone (3a) Series Gets 6 Years of Updates, but Only 3 Android OS Upgrades
The Nothing Phone (3a) series has been officially announced, with the company promising an extended 6 years of security updates. However, only 3 years of Android OS upgrades are guaranteed over this period. This split approach is somewhat different from other manufacturers like Google and Samsung, which offer up to 7 years of both security and OS updates for their flagship devices.
The Nothing Phone (3a) series starts at $379 and features a unique design, clean software, and the Glyph interface. It also includes a dedicated 'Essential key' for accessing a specialized space for notes and ideas. The series will launch with Android 15 and is expected to be supported through Android 18.
While the extended security updates are commendable, the limited OS upgrades might seem dated compared to the current trend, especially for mid-range devices like Samsung's Galaxy A-series, which offers 6 years of both security and OS updates.
