Nuphy Kick75 Keyboard: Customizable Hybrid Typing Experience

A colorful hybrid keyboard that lets you switch between low and high profile with ease, the Nuphy Kick75 is a playful addition to any setup.

The Nuphy Kick75 keyboard is a 75% ANSI layout keyboard designed to offer both low-profile and high-profile options in a single device. It features customizable key switches, caps, and plates, allowing users to switch between different profiles easily. The design of the Kick75 draws inspiration from retro elements like Nike sneakers and 8-bit games, with an 8-Bit Odyssey theme and playful characters on the back.

The keyboard comes with a USB-A to USB-C cable, a keycap tool, and a USB-A dongle for wireless connectivity. It supports both NuPhyIO and QMK/VIA firmware. The low-profile version weighs 877 grams and offers Gateron red, silver, brown, and blush nano switches, while the high-profile version uses max versions of those switches. Both profiles use PBT keycaps.

The Kick75 supports multiple connections including wired USB, 2.4GHz wireless, and Bluetooth 5.0, allowing it to connect to up to four devices simultaneously. It has a 1000Hz polling rate in both wired and 2.4GHz modes. The battery life is 60-61 hours with lights on and up to 294 hours with lights off for the NuPhyIO version, while the QMK version offers longer battery life.

The keyboard provides a comfortable typing experience with well-rounded keycaps and a wrist rest. It features a unique red volume knob and easy-to-navigate RGB backlight settings. However, there are some issues with software implementation, as both NuPhyIO and VIA do not recognize the Kick75 at this time.

The Nuphy Kick75 is priced competitively at $89 for the low-profile version and targets keyboard enthusiasts who enjoy customization but may not have extensive technical knowledge. It offers a fun way to experiment with different profiles, though it may not appeal to dedicated keyboard hobbyists.
