Parallels for ChromeOS Shutting Down: Windows on Chromebook Dreams Fading Away

Parallels for ChromeOS, which allowed Chromebooks to run Windows, is reportedly shutting down later this year. The service was launched in 2021 for enterprise machines and was last updated in mid-2022. Google acquired Cameyo earlier this year, citing virtual Windows apps on ChromeOS as a reason for the acquisition. Current customers are expected to be informed soon, with a formal announcement before the end of the year.
