Personalize Your Group Chats: Custom Icons Coming to Google Messages

Custom Group Chat Icons in Google Messages
Google is rolling out a new feature that allows users to personalize group chats with custom icons in the Google Messages app on Android devices. Currently, group chat icons display up to four circular profile pictures, which can make it difficult to distinguish between conversations, especially when there are overlaps among contacts.
To set a custom icon, open the desired group conversation and tap the top bar to access the Group details page. If the feature is available, you'll see a pencil icon next to the existing image. Users can upload their own images, but it's noted that GIFs cannot be used as icons. Additionally, once a custom icon is set, users cannot revert to the previous design.
This feature is not yet widely available and is currently being rolled out gradually. It will eventually enhance the user experience by making it easier to identify group chats.
