Revolutionizing Scheduling: Google Calendar Introduces Gemini Side Panel for Smarter Organization

Google Calendar is enhancing its web interface with the Gemini side panel, allowing users to interactively manage their schedules and events through conversational commands.

Gemini Side Panel in Google Calendar

Google Calendar is rolling out the Gemini side panel on the web, which is currently being tested in Workspace Labs. The Gemini sparkle icon appears between the Calendar/Tasks switcher and the app launcher on calendar.google.com. When tapped, it launches a conversational side panel similar to those already available in other Google Workspace apps like Gmail, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Chat.

Features of Gemini Side Panel:

  • Check Your Schedule

    • Example: “When’s the next time I’ll meet with Annie?”
    • Example: “When is my first meeting tomorrow?”
    • Example: “How many meetings do I have on Friday?”
  • Create an Event

    • Example: “Add brunch on Saturday at 11 AM to my schedule.”
    • Example: “Add a weekly workout every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6 AM.”
    • Example: “Add an hour-long event called Commute at 8 AM and 5 PM today.”
  • Look Up Event Details

    • Example: “What time does my next workout start?”
    • Example: “How long is my meeting with Jim?”
    • Example: “Where is the lunch scheduled today?”

Availability:

  • The Gemini side panel in Google Calendar is currently available for users enrolled in Workspace Labs.
