Revolutionizing the Dashboard: CarPlay Ultra Takes Over Aston Martin's Infotainment System

Revolutionize your driving experience with CarPlay Ultra, now seamlessly integrating with Aston Martin’s next-generation infotainment system.

CarPlay Ultra: The Evolution of In-Car Experience

Apple's highly anticipated 'CarPlay Ultra' is finally rolling out, starting with Aston Martin vehicles. This next-generation in-car experience was initially set to debut by the end of 2024 but has been delayed by five months. Bob Borchers, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, highlighted that CarPlay Ultra represents a significant leap forward in how iPhone users interact with their cars.

Key Features:

  • Complete Dashboard Integration: Unlike traditional CarPlay, which is confined to a single screen, CarPlay Ultra takes over the entire dashboard. It includes control of the speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, and temperature gauge.
  • Customization Options: Drivers can choose to display information from their iPhone, such as maps and media, alongside vehicle-specific data. Onscreen controls, physical buttons, and Siri are all available for managing both car and phone functions.
  • widgets: New widgets powered by the iPhone can be displayed on the car's screens or gauge cluster, providing at-a-glance information.

Rollout and Availability:

  • Debut with Aston Martin: CarPlay Ultra will first appear in new Aston Martin vehicles in the U.S. and Canada. Existing owners will receive the update through a software update available at local dealers.
  • Expansion to Other Automakers: Apple has partnerships with 14 car manufacturers, including Audi, Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis, with more automakers expected to follow.

System Requirements:

  • iPhone Compatibility: CarPlay Ultra works with iPhone 12 or later running iOS 18.5 or later.

This advanced in-car system aims to provide a smarter, safer, and more unified driving experience while maintaining the unique look and feel of each automaker.
