Samsung's Galaxy Watch Users Left in Limbo with Months-Old Updates

Samsung hasn't updated any of its Wear OS-powered Galaxy Watch models in months, leaving users with outdated software and potential security vulnerabilities.

Samsung's Galaxy Watch models powered by Wear OS haven't received any updates in months. The latest major update, One UI 6 Watch with Wear OS 5, first debuted on earlier this year but has not been released for the rest of the series.

Older Galaxy Watch devices have not been updated since then and are still stuck on older security patches from March 2024. Even the newest releases like the Galaxy Watch 7, Ultra, and FE only received an update up to June 2024 security patch.

Samsung has not commented on why its smartwatches are months out of date regarding updates but this is not the first time that patches have slipped their mind. Earlier reports showed Samsung delaying Google Play System Updates for phones which were resolved after being brought to light.
