Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 7 Set to Feature Exynos Chip Amid Cost Concerns
Samsung opts for Exynos 2500 in Galaxy Z Flip 7 due to cost considerations, while the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will feature a Snapdragon chip.
Samsung's Chipset Choices for Upcoming Foldables
Samsung is reportedly planning to equip the Galaxy Z Flip 7 with its in-house Exynos 2500 chipset, while using a Snapdragon chip in the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Initial plans were to use Exynos, but issues led to considering Qualcomm’s Snapdragon. However, due to improved yields and cost considerations, Samsung is reverting to its original plan.
- Exynos 2500 Yield: Improved but still sub-par at 20-40%, well below Samsung's desired 60% for mass production.
- Cost Concerns: Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chip costs over 20% more, which the Galaxy Z Flip 7 cannot absorb without affecting its price point.
- Launch Date: The new foldable devices are expected to launch in July 2025.
