Starting February 20, 2025, Google Assistant headphones from other manufacturers will no longer automatically read unread notifications, requiring users to manually command 'Read my notifications.'

Starting from February 20, 2025, Google Assistant headphones from manufacturers other than Pixel Buds will no longer automatically read unread notifications. Users will need to manually request this feature by saying ‘Read my notifications.’ This change also applies to the ability to reply to notifications through the headphones. Google has not provided a clear reason for this update but mentions that it's based on user feedback aimed at improving the experience. Meanwhile, the new smart assistant Gemini, which aims to provide summarized alerts and enhanced features, is still limited to Pixel Buds Pro and specific messaging apps.
