Siri's AI Upgrade Delayed: What to Expect Before 2027

Siri's much-anticipated AI improvements face significant delays, with major updates potentially not arriving until 2027.

Siri's Delayed Improvements

A recent report suggests that significant improvements to Siri, Apple's digital assistant, have been pushed back. Initially slated for integration with Apple Intelligence in iOS 18.4, these enhancements are now expected to roll out in May 2025. However, major updates might not arrive until Spring 2026 with a future version of iOS 19.

The delays highlight the challenges Apple faces in merging Siri's traditional capabilities with its new AI-based system. In the interim, users may notice little to no improvement in Siri's performance, as the assistant remains a hybrid of old and new functionalities. Some features, such as integrating with ChatGPT, are already available but have not proven particularly useful.

Apple is reportedly behind schedule on several fronts, including a more conversational version of Siri that was expected to debut at WWDC 2025. The company is struggling to meet its initial promises and may only deliver backend improvements until mid-2026 or even 2027. These delays further emphasize the gap between Apple and competitors like Amazon's updated Alexa.
