Siri's Conversational Upgrade Faces Delays in iOS 19 Rollout

Apple's 'more conversational' Siri upgrade for iOS 19 is running behind schedule, with delays pushing the feature to at least iOS 20.

Summary According to the latest Power On newsletter by Mark Gurman, Apple is facing significant delays in its AI advancements for Siri. While a new unified architecture for Siri (dubbed 'LLM Siri') remains on track for iOS 19, the more conversational version of Siri, akin to ChatGPT, has been pushed back and may not be available until iOS 20 at the earliest. Additionally, Apple is still working on delivering three Siri features promised for iOS 18, which are now set to launch with iOS 18.5 in May.

Internal data shows that the current usage of Apple Intelligence is very low, indicating that existing features may not be resonating well with users. As a result, there are no significant consumer-facing changes planned for Apple Intelligence in iOS 19, as the company focuses on rolling out the delayed features from iOS 18.
