Streaming Showdown: How Apple TV+ Stacks Up Against the Competition in Q1 2025

New data reveals how Apple TV+ fared against streaming giants like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video during Q1 2025, despite a slight subscription increase.

Apple TV+ Market Share in Q1 2025

According to JustWatch’s latest research, Apple TV+’s market share in the US increased from 7% in Q4 2024 to 8% in Q1 2025. This slight rise occurred following the premiere of Severance season two in January, which contributed to an increase in subscriptions. However, the overall market dynamics remained largely unchanged compared to the previous quarter.

  • Amazon Prime Video: 21%
  • Netflix: 20%
  • Max: 13%
  • Disney+: 12%
  • Hulu: 10%
  • Apple TV+: 8%
  • Paramount+: 7%
  • Peacock and Starz: Both at 2%

Notably, Apple TV+ has over 300 titles available, focusing exclusively on original content. Despite its critical successes, the platform is estimated to result in a $1 billion annual loss for Apple, with around 45 million subscribers globally.
