The End of an Era: 'Google Meet (original)' App Bites the Dust
The 'Google Meet (original)' app has stopped working as part of Google's efforts to upgrade the personal video calling experience, directing users to the new app with additional features like reactions and direct calling capabilities.
Google has phased out the original 'Google Meet' app, redirecting users to the newer version that was created from the Duo app. The original Meet app had a green icon and '[original]' appended to its name, but it no longer works for joining calls or accessing features. Users are now directed to download the updated Meet app.
