TSMC Warns U.S. of Potential AI Chip Sanctions Breach by Huawei
TSMC alerts U.S. to possible AI chip sanctions breach by Huawei

TSMC has warned the US Commerce Department of a possible breach of sanctions against China by Huawei. The customer attempted to order a chip similar in design to the Ascend 910B, a processor made for large language model training.
In a separate probe from October 18, the Commerce Department is investigating if TSMC breached sanctions itself and had supplied smartphone or AI chips to Huawei via an intermediary that hid Huawei's involvement.
