Google Rolls Out Pixel 9 ‘Connected Cameras’ Capability

As part of the March 2025 Feature Drop, Google has introduced a new 'Connected Cameras' feature for the Pixel 9 series. This functionality allows users to connect and stream from other cameras during live streams on platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok.

Supported Devices:

  • Pixel 9 Series: Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro Fold
  • Other Compatible Cameras: Pixel 6 and later, GoPro 10 and later (latest software updates)

Required Updates:

  • Device Connectivity Service: Version 1.0.717416888
  • Pixel Camera Services: Version 2.2.731017054.10

Setup Steps:

  1. Enable Feature in Settings: Go to Settings > Connected devices > Connection preferences and enable the 'Connected Cameras' option.
  2. Open Compatible App: Launch a supported app (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok).
  3. Use Camera Picker: A floating chat head will appear; tap it to expand into a pill. Tap ‘Add Pixel’ to see nearby devices signed into your Google Account.
  4. Grant Access: On the other device, you’ll be prompted to grant access and choose the camera (back or front).
  5. Connect GoPro: Pair the GoPro via Settings > Connected devices > Pair new device. It will then appear in the Camera Picker.

Additional Notes:

  • Connecting a Pixel device to a GoPro might take some time.
  • Only one remote camera can be connected at a time.
  • Using a Bluetooth audio source may affect streaming quality.
