Upgrade Your Mac Easily with iBoff's Innovative SSD Module Design

A repair YouTuber has created a modular SSD slot for newer Macs, enabling users to easily expand storage capacity without soldering, microsoldering, or affecting performance. The upgrade process could make Apple devices more repairable and user-friendly if adopted more widely.

A repair YouTuber known as iBoff has created upgradable SSD storage modules for Apple Silicon MacBooks. These modules allow users to easily upgrade or swap the drives in their devices without soldering. The process involves removing the SSD module and swapping it with a higher capacity drive, then restoring the computer using Apple Configurator. This method does not require microsoldering once the SSD slot is installed and maintains the same performance as Apple's original soldered drives. While installing the SSD slot may be complex for most users, the ability to upgrade storage after that is user-friendly.
