Veo 2 Video Generation Powers Up Gemini App for Advanced Users

Google's Gemini app introduces Veo 2 video generation for Advanced users, offering fluid character movements and cinematic realism in eight-second clips.

Gemini App Introduces Video Generation with Veo 2 for Advanced Subscribers

Google is expanding its AI capabilities by introducing video generation powered by the Veo 2 model to the Gemini app, exclusively for Advanced subscribers. Announced at the end of last year, Veo 2 offers advanced features such as fluid character movement, lifelike scenes, and realistic visual details across various subjects and styles.

Within the Gemini app, Veo 2 can generate eight-second video clips in 720p resolution with a 16:9 landscape format. Users can download the videos as MP4 files or share them via a link. To use this feature, select Veo 2 from the model dropdown on both web and mobile apps. The generation process takes 1-2 minutes, and more detailed prompts yield better control over the final output.

This feature opens up numerous creative possibilities, allowing users to imagine surreal combinations, explore different visual styles, and quickly narrate short stories. Examples of prompts include a small puppy running through a snow-covered garden in early morning sunlight, a kitten on a beach surprised by a crashing wave, and an aerial shot of a picturesque coastal scene.

For safety, each frame includes a SynthID digital watermark. The feature is available to Advanced subscribers ($19.99 per month) with a monthly limit on the number of videos that can be generated. It will roll out globally in all languages supported by Gemini starting today and be fully available in the coming weeks.

Additionally, Google One AI Premium subscribers now have access to Veo 2 generation in Whisk, a Google Labs experiment where images can be turned into eight-second animated videos.
