WhatsApp Unveils Next-Level Chat Privacy Feature for Enhanced Security

WhatsApp is stepping up its game with a new 'Advanced Chat Privacy' feature that adds an extra layer of protection for sensitive messages, ensuring they stay private and secure.

WhatsApp Develops New Advanced Privacy Feature Meta is currently working on a new privacy feature for WhatsApp, tentatively named 'Advanced Chat Privacy.' This feature aims to add an extra layer of security and privacy to both individual and group chats. Key aspects include:

  • No Exporting: Chats with advanced privacy cannot be exported.
  • Media Protection: Media from these chats will not be automatically saved to the device’s photo library.
  • Meta AI Disabled: Meta's AI services will be completely disabled in chats with this feature enabled.

The feature is currently hidden in the latest beta version of WhatsApp for iOS and is expected to be optional, managed on a per-chat basis. When enabled, participants in the chat will receive a notification. Additionally, recent updates to WhatsApp include the ability to set it as the default messaging app on iPhones running iOS 18.2 or later.
