YouTube for Android is testing a 'Play something' FAB that starts a video in the Shorts player, taking into account user preferences.

YouTube for Android is testing a 'Play something' floating action button (FAB) that initiates video playback in the Shorts player interface. The FAB stands out with white text on a black background and features a play icon. When tapped, it starts a video in the Shorts player, which is not exclusive to YouTube Shorts and will also play regular content. The Play something button disappears when the miniplayer is active.
