YouTube Shorts Duration Extended to 3 Minutes, New Features Announced

YouTube announced it will extend the maximum duration of YouTube Shorts from 60 seconds to three minutes starting October 15th, as the company responds to creator demands for longer short-form videos. The change applies only to videos in a square or taller aspect ratio and there won't be any changes to videos uploaded before the change date. With the increased video length, YouTube plans to improve recommendations for longer Shorts and offer features that allow creators to easily recreate trends with templates. Creators will also be able to tap into the vast universe of YouTube content directly from their Shorts camera to remix clips and more.
