Android’s Enhanced Identity Check Feature Rolls Out to Pixel and Samsung Devices
Google is rolling out a new security feature called 'Identity Check' for Android devices, starting with Pixel phones and soon to be available on Samsung's One UI 7 devices. This feature requires explicit biometric authentication when performing sensitive actions outside of trusted locations. These actions include accessing saved passwords, changing screen lock or biometrics, running a factory reset, turning off theft protection features, and more. Identity Check also enhances Google Account protection and introduces additional security for Samsung Accounts on eligible One UI 7 devices. It is being rolled out to Pixel devices with Android 15 and the latest Play services, and will come to other supported Android devices later this year. Users can enable Identity Check through the Security & privacy settings.
