According to recent reports from Bloomberg, Apple is planning to release another iPad Air in spring 2025 with “internal improvements”. This refresh comes just a year after the previous update, which featured the M2 chip. The most significant change expected for this new model is a brand-new Magic Keyboard, potentially featuring a function row like other new iPad keyboards.

Additionally, there may be an updated chipset in the 2025 iPad Air. Possibilities include:

  • A version of the M2 chip with a full 10-core GPU (as opposed to the current binned version with a 9-core GPU)
  • The M3 chip, although this is less likely as Apple looks to move away from the first generation 3nm process due to cost and yield concerns.
  • A binned version of the M4 chip, expected to have an 8-core CPU and an 8-core GPU. This would mark the first time both the iPad Air and iPad Pro contain the latest Apple Silicon.
