Meta's Orion: A Sneak Peek at Apple's Spatial Computing Future

Meta's Orion smart glasses may not be a product for consumers yet, but they showcase the future possibilities of Apple Vision – a sleek, lightweight pair of glasses with AR capabilities.

Meta has unveiled its Orion smart glasses, which it claims have the look and feel of a regular pair of glasses. The device requires an external compute package and uses an EMG wristband for input, as well as eye tracking and voice control.

The current state of the product is not ready for consumers; instead, Meta employees and select audiences will be using it over the next few years to develop and refine it. This isn't the first time a company has pre-announced an AR prototype - Google Glass, HoloLens, and Magic Leap all did the same.

Apple's Vision Pro is expected to eventually be shrunken down into more traditional glasses frames.
