Roku has clarified how its 'Pause Ads' work, addressing misunderstandings and issues with HDR content. The company confirmed that the ads displayed in a recent Reddit thread are from an external source, not Roku itself. Currently, Pause Ads only appear within the Roku Channel app and have been available for some time. These ads do not yet show up on HDMI inputs or content from other apps. Additionally, Roku is investigating reports of washed-out HDR content on Disney+, specifically noted in the show Andor. The company is also testing ads that display when turning on the TV and has introduced picture-in-picture functionality for monitoring cameras.
