The Apple Watch blood oxygen battle hurts the company and its customers
Apple Watch users in the US upgrading to the Series 10 from the S6 or later are losing out on a key feature, blood oxygen measurement, due to a patent infringement case with healthtech company Masimo. This is because Masimo accused Apple of attempting to steal their blood oxygen sensor technology following meetings between the two companies in 2013. The ITC ordered Apple to remove the feature from new watches sold in the US from January 18th of this year, but it was not required to disable the feature in Watches already sold.
