Another Apple iPad Air Release on the Horizon: What Updates to Expect

Apple is set to release another iPad Air with 'internal improvements' in spring 2025, featuring a new Magic Keyboard and potentially an updated chip or other enhancements, reports Bloomberg.

According to recent reports from Bloomberg, Apple is planning to release another iPad Air in spring 2025 with “internal improvements”. This refresh comes just a year after the previous update, which featured the M2 chip. The most significant change expected for this new model is a brand-new Magic Keyboard, potentially featuring a function row like other new iPad keyboards.

Additionally, there may be an updated chipset in the 2025 iPad Air. Possibilities include:

  • A version of the M2 chip with a full 10-core GPU (as opposed to the current binned version with a 9-core GPU)
  • The M3 chip, although this is less likely as Apple looks to move away from the first generation 3nm process due to cost and yield concerns.
  • A binned version of the M4 chip, expected to have an 8-core CPU and an 8-core GPU. This would mark the first time both the iPad Air and iPad Pro contain the latest Apple Silicon.

There are also several other potential improvements that could be included in this refresh based on updates seen in other recent Apple products:
