Apple Says Goodbye to Northbrook: Store Closes Permanently on April 26

After two decades of service, Apple's Northbrook Court store is set to close permanently on April 26, with no plans for a replacement.

Apple Closes Northbrook Court Store Permanently

Apple is set to permanently close its store at Northbrook Court Mall in suburban Chicago on April 26, 2025, at 7 p.m. Unlike typical closures that involve relocation to a larger or more modern location, this store will not be replaced. The closure aligns with broader changes at the mall, which has faced significant retail struggles, losing major retailers like Macy's, Lord & Taylor, and Lululemon. The mall's owner, Brookfield Property Partners, is investing $825 million in a redevelopment project that includes adding upscale retail and affordable housing.

The Northbrook Apple Store originally opened on July 16, 2005, and was relocated within the mall in 2017. Upon closing, it will have served the community for exactly 20 years. Apple employees at this location will be offered positions at other stores nearby, such as:

  • Apple Old Orchard: 4999 Old Orchard Center, Skokie, IL 60077.
  • Apple Deer Park: 20530 N. Rand Road, Deer Park, IL 60010.
  • Apple Woodfield: N311 Woodfield Mall, Schaumburg, IL 60173.

For Apple, closing a store without a replacement is unusual, and most customers in the area will need to adjust to visiting these nearby locations or utilizing online services.
