Apple's Robot iPad: Less Impressive Than It Sounds?

Apple is rumored to be working on a robotic arm device that can move around a large screen, with a team of several hundred people dedicated to the project. The device reportedly relies on actuators to tilt the display up and down and make it spin 360 degrees, and is envisioned as a smart home command center, videoconferencing machine, and remote-controlled home security tool.
However, the author of the article is skeptical about the practicality of such a device and believes that if it ever launches, it will be more basic than it sounds. They think (and hope) that the final product will be nothing more than an iPad with a speaker attachment, using existing smart home software.
