Apple's Unfulfilled macOS Privacy Promise: Four Years Later
Four years after promising changes to improve macOS privacy and address issues with app notarization checks, Apple has yet to deliver on its word.
In 2020, Apple faced server outages that affected macOS installations and app verification processes, revealing a flaw in how the company handles app notarization on Mac computers. Following this incident, Apple promised changes to improve user privacy and security. The company implemented some of the promised changes but has yet to release the complete opt-out of online notarization checks as initially pledged. References to this feature were removed from a support document within the last year.
