Cash App Data Breach Victims Eligible for Up To $2,575 Compensation

Cash App data breach victims have just a few weeks left to claim up to $2,575 in compensation for a data breach – submit your claim quickly

Cash App, owned by Block (formerly Square), has agreed to compensate users affected by a data breach that occurred in 2022. The breach involved a former employee who retained access to customer information despite leaving the company months earlier. Cash App is notifying 8.2 million users about the incident, with exposed information including full names, brokerage account numbers and, in some cases, portfolio value, holdings, and trading activity.

In response to a class action lawsuit, Block agreed to compensate victims without admitting liability. Users who had a Cash App account between August 23, 2018 and August 20, 2024 may be eligible for compensation of up to $2,500 for out-of-pocket costs, three hours lost time worth $25 per hour, or undocumented monetary losses. Claims must be filed by November 19, with a decision on the settlement expected by December 19.
