iOS 18.2 Adds Two Hidden Tools for Controlling Your iPhone's Volume

iOS 18.2 introduces two new hidden tools in the Settings app to help users manage their iPhone's volume settings.

#1: Restoring Volume Slider on Lock Screen

Prior to iOS 16, users could easily adjust audio playback volume using a dedicated slider on the Lock Screen. In iOS 18.2, this feature can be restored by going to Settings > Accessibility > Audio & Visual, then toggling the "Always Show Volume Control" setting on.

#2: Limiting Maximum Volume

To limit the maximum volume of your iPhone's built-in speaker:

  1. Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics
  2. Navigate to 'Volume Limit' under `'Built-in Speaker'
  3. Set a desired maximum volume level between 20% and 90% of standard volume.

This does not affect phone calls, FaceTime calls, emergency calls/alerts, ringtones, alarms, system sounds, or Find My sounds.

By using these new tools in iOS 18.2, users can customize their audio experience on the iPhone based on personal preferences and needs.
