MediaTek has announced the Dimensity 7400 series, which includes the Dimensity 7400 and 7400X SoCs. These new chips are designed to bring advanced AI capabilities to mid-range smartphones, making AI more accessible to a broader audience. The series also includes the Dimensity 6400, a budget-friendly option with improved performance and features.
Key Features
- CPU and GPU: Both the Dimensity 7400 and 7400X feature an octa-core CPU with four Arm Cortex-A78 and four Cortex-A55 cores. They are paired with the Mali-G615 MC2 GPU, which offers enhanced gaming performance.
- NPU: The new SoCs come with MediaTek's proprietary 6th-gen NPU, which claims to deliver a 15% improvement in AI performance compared to the Dimensity 7300.
- Manufacturing Process: Built on a 4nm process, these chips offer improved power efficiency, especially during gaming sessions.
Variants
- Dimensity 7400X: This variant is compatible with dual-display flip devices, making it suitable for foldable smartphones.
- Dimensity 6400: Positioned as a budget-friendly option, this SoC features half the number of Cortex-A78 cores and additional A55 cores. It prioritizes 5G connectivity and basic gaming performance.
Availability
The Dimensity 7400 and 7400X are expected to be available in devices starting from Q1 2025, while the Dimensity 6400 is already on the market.
