OnePlus Plans Revolutionary 'Magic Cube' Key to Replace Iconic Alert Slider

OnePlus May Replace the Alert Slider with a Customizable 'Magic Cube' Button
OnePlus, known for its iconic three-stage Alert Slider since 2015, may be moving away from this feature. According to a leak by Digital Chat Station, OnePlus and Oppo are planning to introduce a new 'Magic Cube key.' This button would allow users to mute their device with one tap and can be customized for various functions such as opening the camera, turning on the flashlight, taking a screenshot, or launching an app. The concept is similar to Apple's Action Button but offers multiple shortcuts.
The Alert Slider has been a core part of OnePlus smartphones, allowing users to switch between Silent, Vibrate, and Ringer modes without turning on the screen. It was briefly removed in the OnePlus 10T in 2022 but quickly brought back with the OnePlus 11 in 2023.
This change suggests a shift towards more customizable and versatile physical buttons in future OnePlus and Oppo devices.
