Rumor: New HomePod to Feature High-Quality OLED Screen from Chinese Manufacturer
Surprising rumor says new HomePod will get high-quality OLED screen - William Gallagher (AppleInsider) / An artist’s rendition of a HomePod with a display / South Korean press unexpectedly claims that Apple's anticipated new HomePod with a display will use high-quality OLED screens, all to be manufactured in China. The much-rumored HomePod has most recently been predicted for a second half 2025 release date - but Chinese firm Tianma is said to have got the exclusive order already, and will be making OLED.
South Korean press claims that Apple's anticipated new HomePod with a display will use high-quality OLED screens manufactured in China by Chinese display firm Tianma. The company is believed to be planning screens of between 6 inches and 7 inches, and using the low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) version of OLED. This would be the first time that a Chinese company has gained an exclusive contract, beating South Korean rivals. It's claimed that Apple is working with Chinese firms to help them lower costs through technology innovations.
