Severance-Inspired Keyboard Ditches Escape Key: A Disturbing Metaphor for Modern Work Culture
The MDR Dasher is a compact mechanical keyboard inspired by the hit Apple TV+ show 'Severance.' The keyboard features a deep blue housing, rounded keycaps, and a unique 70 percent layout with an integrated trackball. Most notably, it omits the Escape, Control, and Option keys, reflecting the show's premise of workers being neurologically divided from their outside selves and having no way to 'escape' their work environment. The keyboard is compatible with macOS, Windows, and Linux and is designed for both 'Innies' and 'Outies.' It is currently in a pre-launch phase, with Atomic Keyboard accepting sign-ups for early access and updates on the upcoming group buy. Pricing has not been announced, but interest from 'Severance' fans and collectors of unique mechanical keyboards is high.
