Snapchat Introduces AI-Generated Lenses for Premium Subscribers

Snapchat has announced a new feature exclusively for its premium subscribers, Snapchat Platinum. Starting today, these users will have access to AI-generated Lenses, which are AR filters that use an in-house built generative video model to create more realistic effects.

New AI Video Lenses:

• Raccoon and Fox: These lenses animate furry friends interacting with the user.
• Spring Flowers: This lens generates a zoom-out effect as if the user is holding a bouquet of flowers.

These AI-generated videos take some time to process, but users can continue browsing the app while they are being generated. Snapchat plans to add more AI Video Lenses in the future.

Coincidentally, Instagram announced similar AI-based filters in December, though these have not yet been released to users.

Snapchat is available for free on the App Store and requires an iPhone or iPad running iOS 14 or later.
