Sonos Scraps Ambitious TV Streaming Box Project, Pinewood, in Major Shift
Sonos has canceled the development of its TV streaming box, codenamed 'Pinewood,' which was intended to compete with the Apple TV 4K and priced up to $400. The decision was made during an all-hands call by interim CEO Tom Conrad as part of efforts to reprioritize the company’s future roadmap and attempt a turnaround following a challenging year dominated by issues such as a controversial app redesign and leadership changes. The cancellation leaves Sonos without a significant new product for the latter half of 2025, adding pressure on the company to regain its footing in the market.
