TSMC Unveils $100 Billion US Expansion Plan, Set to Revolutionize Chip Manufacturing Landscape

TSMC’s $100 Billion US Expansion Plan Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) is set to invest $100 billion in the United States over the next four years, with a formal announcement expected later Monday by President Trump. This significant investment aims to build cutting-edge chip-manufacturing facilities, advancing the U.S. goal of reviving its domestic semiconductor industry. TSMC already operates manufacturing plants in Arizona, producing two Apple chips: the A16 Bionic and the S9 for the Apple Watch. However, these are not among the most advanced chips in Apple's lineup.
TSMC’s CEO has previously noted that regulatory issues may prevent the US from becoming a hub for the latest and greatest chip production. The official announcement might clarify whether this stance has changed and if TSMC will now produce flagship Apple chips in the US, marking a significant shift in current practices.
