Android Auto Update 13.0 Prepares Support for Third-Party Calling Apps
Android Auto may soon support third-party calling apps for making phone calls, expanding beyond the default dialer app currently available.

Android Auto v13.0, a recent update for Android Auto, includes mentions of "external dialer" support which suggests that third-party calling apps may soon be supported on the platform. Currently, Android Auto only supports using the phone's default dialer app for making calls. The update includes flags such as "Dialer__external_dialer_allow_list", "Dialer__external_dialer_enabled", and "Dialer__swap_call_start_app_kill_switch".
