Plex Enforces Paid Remote Streaming: Free Personal Media Access to Become a Thing of the Past

Plex is raising subscription prices and ending free remote streaming for personal media libraries starting April 29, 2025.

Plex announces significant price increases for subscription options effective April 29, 2025, to support ongoing development and cover rising costs. The monthly Plex Pass will increase to $6.99 from $4.99, the annual plan to $69.99 from $39.99, and the Lifetime Plex Pass to $249.99 from $120. Additionally, remote streaming of personal media will no longer be free and will require a Plex Pass or the new 'Remote Watch Pass' subscription, priced at $1.99 per month or $19.99 annually. Local network streaming remains free. The company also eliminates its one-time mobile activation fee.
