Plex Revamps iPhone App with New UI: Simpler Navigation, Enhanced Features

Plex's new iOS app brings a sleek, streamlined interface to iPhone users, combining personal media collections with on-demand content for a seamless streaming experience.

Plex has introduced a new mobile app experience for iPhone users, enhancing the streaming interface with a more intuitive design. The update combines media collections from Plex servers and on-demand content into a seamless single interface. Key changes include centralized media libraries in a dedicated tab, prominent placement of the Watchlist, and a streamlined user menu featuring more artwork and personalized details such as profile information, watch history, connected services, and friends.

The new UI also includes performance improvements like better load times and scrolling, personal Live TV tuners, a sleep timer, and support for portrait mode. Plex is working on aligning the experience across its TV platforms as well.

Alongside the UI update, Plex announced significant pricing changes effective April 29. The monthly Plex Pass will increase from $4.99 to $6.99, with the annual plan rising from $39.99 to $69.99 and the lifetime pass jumping from $120 to $249.99. Additionally, remote streaming for personal media will no longer be available as a free service, requiring either the Plex Media Server owner or the user to have a Plex Pass. A new Remote Watch Pass subscription is also being introduced at $1.99 per month or $19.99 annually.
